Our Community Library in Pakuranga.

I went to the Pakuranga Library on the bus.  The library people read some books about Matariki.  They did a little play and the sun got caught in a net and it was funny.  After that we looked around the whole library.  There were lots and lots and lots of books.  Mrs Murray let us issue 3 books with her library card.  I was happy!

When I came back to school I could make a necklace.  First I coloured it in and then I cut it out.  Mrs Kerr put a string through the hole and I put it around my neck and took it home.

I Can Write All By Myself!

I am learning how to write a story.  I draw a picture to help me plan my work.  I use the day card to help me write the day correctly.  I use my alphabet card to help me write the letters and words.

"I like to write about all of my people.  Sometimes it's hard to start my story."

I Can Use the Illustrations to Help Me Read the Words.

I am learning to use the pictures to help me to read the words in my book.  When I look at a new page, I look at the pictures first.  Next, I look at the words and I try to read them. The pictures help me to read the words that I don't already know.

"I am pointing to my book and it is 'said'.  I can find it by myself!"

I Am Writing My Numbers Up To 10.

I am learning to write the numbers up to 10 and put them into the correct order, forwards and backwards.

"It's tricky to remember the way they go. I don't know 2 and 7 and 9.  I like putting the circles together and I can get 14 because that's the number the teacher says."
